Operation Christmas Child!

Happy Monday!!

Since it’s the start of the week, I thought I would share with you a project where I got to do one of my favorite things in the world…GIVE! I love love love getting little gifts for the people special to me. You’d think it was my love language but it’s actually the one I score lowest on!

In my family, during Christmas time we usually only do gifts for the small ones. We’re always just excited to see everyone, gift giving doesn’t make it on the list of our Christmas traditions. Since giving is one of my favorite things to do and the number of small children in my family is decreasing (for now) Operation Christmas Child has become one of my favorite things to do around the holiday season.

I remember when I was younger I always chose someone to do a OCC box for and then got to pick an angel off of the local angel tree. Unfortunately I haven’t had enough time to get to know my new area yet to find an angel tree location. I am planning to keep my eyes peeled though, especially once we get into December!

I must confess that I haven’t completed a box in a few years. That makes this year extra special because it was Andrew’s first time filling a box! We decided to pay our $7 shipping donation online so we could see where our boxes end up. This is the first year I’ve known you could do that so I’m pretty stoked about that little feature.

Andrew chose a boy age 5-9 and this is what he decided on to fill his box:

 andrewbest

-Elephant hand puppet
-Travel toothbrush
-Travel sized chalkboard
-Dino coloring book
-Fire rescue pencil and paper set
-Ninja Turtles splat ball [whatever that is..he just thought a boy might like it. haha]
-Fruit roll ups
-Mickey Mouse 6 ct. pocket tissue pack
-Lego movie 6pk No.2 pencils
-Silly putty
-15 ct. Glow in the dark bracelets
-20pk Multi colored toy dinosaurs
-“Dino Roar” crayons (20 ct.)
-Jack&The Beanstalk pop-up book
-Sport lollipop bouquet
-Bones the dog TY beanie baby
-Composition notebook (with a note from Andrew on the first page)
-2 Dove travel sized bars of soap

By the time we were done shopping, Andrew’s box had a dino theme and mine had a way girly theme. It’s kinda funny because I am not all about pink (I do like purple though) and frills and rhinestones in my everyday but the sparkles definitely got me this time. Maybe it’s because one of my all time best just had her first baby (my first godbaby!) and she’s the most precious little itty bitty thing! Somehow all that girly energy was behind the contents of my box for a little girl age 10-14. I filled my box with:

Andrew and I will be praying and trusting that God has already matched our boxes to the perfect little recipients who will be overjoyed with answered Christmas prayers in some way.

I know everyone is gearing up for Thanksgiving this week! I’ll be around tomorrow but after that I’m not sure if I’ll make it out again before Monday but you know what that means…when I do get back…I’ll be singing Christmas music.

Love to you all!
