A few nights ago while Andrew was on his way home from work he told me that he had been thinking about our first Thanksgiving together. He sounded very thoughtful so I asked him why. He responded:
“Because Grandma Lois was there and Griffin was there. I’m just glad we got to share that together.”
Grandma Lois is his wonderful grandmother who passed away earlier this year and Griffin is his sweet family dog who protected the ranch for 14 years until his passing last month.
Andrew and I started dating in October of 2011. We had been friends for a little while but our first official date was a concert on October 16, 2011. I was over the moon when a week or so later he asked me to join him back home to meet his family over Thanksgiving.
Everyone was going to be there. Even his cousins from Illinois. I was a nervous wreck but Andrew made me feel so comfortable and his family was so excited to meet me. Weeks away from graduating college and he had never brought anyone home before. I couldn’t have felt more special.
I still feel that way. To know that a Thanksgiving memory he cherished most, he was happy to share with me, made me feel that same kind of special all over again.
This year I am thankful for so many things. My prayer for you is that love consumes your life and spreads like wildfire.
I hope you all have a happy Thanksgiving! I’m so excited to recap my holiday for you all on Monday because A. everyone enjoys swapping photos of their holiday plates right? And B. it will be DECEMBER 1st and that’s really when I tell the holidays to turn down for what.
Love to all of you darlings!
